Hey, here’s a Songwriting Workshop for the Boston-area Tumblrs
Thanks! This sounds great!Hey, CherylWallace and all the other Boston area Tumblrs…
Here’s a head’s up that I got from Christopher of the Everyday Visuals:
A little bit of different news for ya’ll. Someone very nice, over at the legendary Passim school, apparently thought I was competent enough as a songwriter to give me the honor of teaching a workshop on the subject at the Passim school on Feb. 8th.They gave me free reign to basically talk about whatever I’d like, so I chose something that I myself constantly battle with - being honest in songwriting.
You may recall, folks that read our myspace Blog regularly anyway - that I wrote a *very* short essay that touched upon the subject. It is something that I feel really is inherent in all great songwriting; this idea of truth, the idea that every opportunity in the composition is fully utilized to be an expressive part of the song.
Class registration cost are a bit pricey ($35), but the class is 2 hours, so if you live in the New England area, and you’d like to come by and see what it’s all about, you should. All are welcomed, even if you don’t write songs, and you’d maybe like to start.
Here is a brief description from the Passim Site:
Sunday, February 8 [2-4pm]This workshop will focus on deconstructing and doing away with the traditional pretenses of songwriting to help students find a more direct line from the inside of them to their audience. We will be working on eliminating the traps and clichés that plague songwriters and block true expression in music.Hope to see you.
Christopher
